The Senate

University's Senate is a managing and a special body at the University. University's Senate is convened and headed by the Chancellor PhD Lidija Naumovska. Members of the University Senate are professor PhD Zdravko Stojanovski, PhD Krste Dejanovski, PhD Stojan Kuzev, PhD Lence Petreska, assistant professor Pavlina Stojanova, assistant professor Ivan Bimbilovski, assistant professor Lusi Karanikolova and assistant professor Igor Sekovski.
As a managing body, The Senate has the following authority:

  • with a previous approval and instructions directed by the Board of Directors defines the Statute and other general acts,
  • elects and relieves from duty the Chancellor and the Vice-chancellors,
  • confirms the election of deans,
  • with previous approval of the Board of directors, it decides on the formation of  organizational units on the premises of EU-RM and outside of it such as organizations and trade associations,
  • compiles a 4-year development plan and annual work plan
  • approves research-scientific programmes,
  • confirms the election of the academic staff,
  • manages the process of introduction of 2nd and 3rd cycles of study,
  • takes measures and decides about the promotion of teaching, scientific research and applied areas of faculties in accordance with the law and on approval of the Board of Directors,
  • proposes the number of the students enrolling in the first year of the 3 cycles of study,
  • assures the improvement of the teaching staff for working with especially successful and talented students,
  • elects and relieves from duty members of the Evaluation Commission for the EU-RM and members of the sub-commissions for evaluation of the faculties,
  • gives Instructions for evaluation of the EU-RM,
  • forms temporary and permanent commissions and other bodies for particular issues from its authority,
  • organizes domestic and international assemblies, symposiums, counseling etc., previously approved of the Board of Directors,
  • decides on the international relations in accordance with the Board of Directors,
  • decides on the library, the library-informational system and on the  realization of the library-informational and archiving activity, as well as the computer network,
  • approves the work agenda of the Senate, in accordance with the Board of Directors,
  • assures the promotion and protection of the employees’ and students’ standard,
  • confirms the scientific, educational and art areas and disciplines which are included in the higher education institutes which are part of the University,
  • takes view on mergers, divisions and acquisitions of separate units of the University,
  • articulates the opinion on any no-longer needed units of the University and on their transformation,
  • takes view on and gives suggestions about the Syllabus and the annual development programme of its units,
  • takes view on and gives suggestions about the scientific –research national programme of the Republic of Macedonia,
  • elects full-time Professors;
  • decides about awarding the Doctor Honoris Causa and the Professor Honoris Causa titles;   
  • gives its opinion on the Inter-University Conference on the norms and standards of conducting higher education activities;   
  • adopts a Rulebook for the criteria and procedures for promoting University staff members into teaching-scientific, scientific, teaching and associate titles, in coordination with the Managing Board;
  • adopts Rulebooks for the requirements, criteria and rules for enrolling and studying in the three cycles of studies, in coordination with the Managing Board;
  • adopts a Rulebook for the unique credit system and the transfer from one to another study program, that is from one to another University unit;
  • adopts a Rulebook for awarding diplomas, diploma supplements, the professional i.e. scientific title, and other graduation documents certifying acquisition of higher education studies, and for the requirements and procedures for revoking an awarded diploma, in coordination with the Managing Board;
  • adopts a Rulebook on the manner of conducting professional administrative activities of common interests to the units of the University, in coordination with the Managing Board;
  • establish employees’ responsibilities and the principles of regulating the labour relations of the employees performing higher educational, scientific, or artistic activities, in coordination with the Managing Board;


The Senate performs other functions as defined by the Law on Higher Education and the University’s general acts.
