Costs of living

The cost of living depends on several cost factors such as the place of residence, housing or apartment rents, auto insurance and health insurance, state taxes, food and utilities etc.

Tips:

  • Before making a decision for renting an apartment, try to compare the rates and facilities provided.
  • Look for promotional offers on websites, banners, newspapers, advertisements etc.
  • Compare the different auto and health insurance quotes, telephone and mobile service plans and choose the best one.
  • Expensive Cities:  If you live in cities like Skopje (the capital city of Macedonia), Bitola, Ohrid etc., then your expenses will be around 40%-50% higher when compared to other cities. Apartment costs, taxi, restaurant bills etc., would be considerably higher. If you know the cost of living in a particular city, it will be helpful for you to negotiate a good salary with your future employer.
  • Free internet in some cafés, restaurants and beaches.
